LATEST VOTING INTENTION
Our latest voting intention figures published in The Sun this morning are CON 34%, LAB 35%, LDEM 8%, UKIP 13%, GRN 5%.
  • Labour leads by one – its fourth lead in a row.
Our latest Wales voting intention figures for ITV Wales are CON 26%, LAB 40%, PC 12%, LDEM 6%, UKIP 13%, GRN 5.
  • Labour leads by 14.
  • Plaid Cymru are up three points since March.

CURRENT ISSUES 

Party Manifestos
  • The most favoured policies from the Labour manifesto are reducing the deficit (76% think it’s a good idea), raising the minimum wage to £8 (71% think it’s a good idea) and freezing gas and electricity prices until 2017 (65% think it’s a good idea).
  • From the Conservative manifesto, the public are most in favour of increasing the personal allowance so that people earning the minimum wage don’t have to pay income tax (80% think it’s a good idea), stopping above inflation rail fare increases until 2020 (67% think it’s a good idea) and reducing the maximum household benefits to £23,000 a year (65% think it’s a good idea).
  • However, only 28% think that giving tenants of housing associations the right to buy their home at a discount is a good idea.
School Places
  • In February last year a third of people (33%) thought that the way school places were allocated was unfair, 22% said it was fair.
  • However, those who had applied for a school place for their children in the previous five years tended to think the system was fair by 40% to 36%.
  • When asked how places should be allocated for primary schools, an overwhelming majority (73%) said those living closest to a school should be given priority. The public were also in favour of schools giving younger siblings of current pupils priority over places by 76% to 11%.
